Werdegang / Ausbildung:
Aino Aksenja (b.1986) is a visual artist who looks for escape routes and adventures. She studies light, plants and death, and the odd familiarity of places unvisited. Life and art intertwine in works that currently are site-specific installations, made-up rituals filmed and stories (photographs and texts).

Aksenja is based in Helsinki, and her works have been shown in Finland, Sweden, Russia, Germany, Portugal, USA and South Korea. She studied photography in small towns in Sweden and Finland and fine art in Helsinki, completing her MFA in 2017. Aksenja has worked in artist residencies from Detroit to different islands since 2012, most recently Örö island for the month of May in 2020. She is currently working on a book of photographs and texts and a diary-based exhibition with her sister.
