Alexandre Liberato is a Portuguese Berlin-based visual artist, whose work includes mixed media, combining painting, drawing, and photography. He has a degree in Architecture from the Technical University in Lisbon, and he assisted the Program 'CREART-Artistic and Creative Research Labs' in Barcelona. He has worked thus far mainly on canvas and paper. Recently, his interests are shifting towards the physical separation of the elements within the artwork, creating spaces in-between, incorporating architecture into his practice, which he explores through the creation of video-installations. The use of his own Body in his artistic research is fundamental: captured in timeless performances, fragments of a choreographed action that stopped in time, but where a certain dynamism remains, creates a new dimension that transcends the artwork. The deconstruction of the subjects into separated elements, activating different layers of meaning, is one of his main interests. The represented Self, the space between the artwork and the viewer, the dialogue established between them, the Look.
