Art discipline:
Jocelyn Yan was born in Los Angeles in 1992. She received her dual Bachelor of Arts in Television/Film and Religion and Society studies from Syracuse University in 2014. Shaped by her queer identity and her experiences as an American-born Taiwanese, Jocelyn utilizes photography to observe and document stories of strength that emerge from weakness. Jocelyn’s work focuses on the physical form and its constructions between socio-political, sexual, and religious norms, and the complexities of how the body stages itself for representation. Jocelyn Yan currently lives in The Hague, NL where she is studying photography at The Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK).
