Their home has become unlivable. So they decided to leave planet earth in search of somewhere else.

While we mourn the loss of these varied forms of life, we also explore the time capsule they left behind. What have they created for us? Why did they have to leave? By any chance can we understand them?

FINDING WHAT IS LOST is an immersive and interactive exhibition that uses sound, light, video, sculpture and experimental writing to express artistic positions on queer ecology. The audience is invited to explore the project space Altes Finanzamt, which has transformed into a time capsule where distinctions between the human and non-human break down. Inside, rigid and binary ideas of nature are disrupted by new growths, conveying the interdependency and fluidity of all living forms.

Through the mysterious languages of existence and the spell of storytelling, the time capsule invites us to enter their past, present and future earth, realising that we are not alone in this. It breathes. It lives. It is a touchable, thrumming, vibrant, and possibly dangerous force that connects us all.

We are performance, sound, and multimedia artists, musicians, writers, videographers and photographers. We are members of the queer-feminist arts collective, Altes Finanzamt e.V. which is not only the site of this exhibition, but also a common working space for 16 artists from different disciplines. Located near Rathaus Neukölln, the project space is frequently used for public events, performances, exhibitions and workshops and is open for collaboration with other groups and collectives. Following the principles of cooperation and solidarity, the collective operates in a non-hierarchical way, sharing responsibilities and care for the space and each other. https://altesfinanzamtcollective.net/
