(in)between worlds or "I like it when I am loud" is a group exhibition, think tank and playground all in one.
You can expect a colourful hustle and bustle between photographic still lifes of the big city in black and white and drawn short stories (zines). Between 14:00 and 18:00 there will be workshops for all ages between art and play, image and sound, loud and quiet, as well as polyrhythmic music from the turntables.
The analogue photographs and zines were created as part of the project Kulturbrücke Jugenddemokratie/@lit.woch (by Werkstadt Kulturverein e.V.) in and around the underworld youth club in Glasower Straße and Carl-Weder-Platz in Neukölln-Britz. The creation process itself was open and free. Equipped with a simple analogue camera and black-and-white film, the young photographers wandered through their neighbourhood and took pictures however and of whatever they wanted.
The focus was on the self-directed experience of deceleration and concentration through a limited number of images and the perception and (recognition) of one's own perspective. The resulting works show everyday urban life from the perspective of the young people in the interplay between anonymity and intimacy. They radiate a great sense of calm, even though the creators have every reason to raise their voices.
The exhibition asks who is heard and seen in urban society and under what circumstances, and who in turn is used as a projection surface for polarising and populist ideologies and why.
(in)between worlds or "I like it when I am loud" thus honours the daily balancing act of the young people - in the transition from child to adult, characterised by the interplay of different cultural codes and identities, as well as the courage to develop their own voice and point of view in this "between".

The photographs and zines were taken and made by around 20 young people aged 10-20. They were accompanied by Frederike Nickel (illustration), Inès Lamari (illustration), Linus Rüllmann (photography) and Keo Luana Strauss (music). The exhibition and workshop programme is organised and curated by Frederike Nickel and Judith Rohleder. With the kind support of Kulturlabor trial&error, who are allowing us to use the Kulturbunker.
