What does the urban landscape - that facilitates so much sound - hear, carry and remember?
‘The Imprint of Sound’ is an artwork that taps into the idea that silence in an urban landscape, is an imprint of sound, a fossilization of movement and thought. It's set into stone, remembering and bearing, unseen to the eye but felt by a whole population.
By drawing a parallel between the aesthetics of cymatics and fossilization, I experimented with visualizing the intangibility of sound.

Biography
Marlyn Kist de Ruijter
Marlyn Kist de Ruijter is a visual artist. Her work spans from sculptural to set- and floral- design. Fascinated by re-imagining nature, and its relation with humanity, she uses both natural and synthesised materials to mirror the natural world. Compositions are refined and imaginative, with an emphasis on texture and color. Paddling between the borders of floral design and fine art, Marlyn searches for character- and world building within her work.
Originally from Amsterdam, she now lives and works as a florist in Neukölln, and follows her Master studies in Textile- and Material design at Kunsthochschule Weißensee.
