Arrival

The Arrival series began after I moved from Turkey to Berlin, exploring how people navigate new places while holding on to their roots. Meeting German-Turks who have been here for three generations gave me a new perspective on shared culture—how they intertwine pieces of home into the city while longing for what they left behind.

I turned my analog photos from Istanbul and Berlin into digital collages, comparing the cities like a “find the 7 differences between the pictures” game. This process revealed how we carry home with us—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally.

The series reflects how reality and perception overlap and shift. What we see depends on what we bring with us—our memories, feelings, and experiences. Through these collages, I wanted to create a space where viewers can reflect on how we see the world, how we adapt, and how we blend old and new to make sense of where we are.
