(b)right & dark
Carley Marholin, Milagros Velázquez Nanni, Clara Franz, Clara Baesecke
28 June 2025 21:30–22:00
Two dancers, two cellists, four stools, and an exploration of human abysses in four acoustic moving images: In (b)right & dark, falsch gmbh stages a sensitive confrontation with the feeling of being trapped within oneself and bad habits, experiencing the deep desire to break free. The four performers wander through a cycle of breaking away, struggling, glimpsing light, seemingly freeing themselves—only to return to old patterns. In the process, they merge into a single character, and their individual artistic disciplines fuse into a newly coruscating palette of music and dance. Sound reflections and movement echoes illuminate inner turmoil in all its shades, while double duets and dual dialogues unfold a nuanced spectrum between clashing sounds and blaring silence. The quartet of artists distorts fourths in squares into truly dark torments. Will it ever get brighter again? Or was it all false?
Biography
Carley Marholin, Milagros Velázquez Nanni, Clara Franz, Clara Baesecke
What came first: sound or movement? An answer is impossible and perhaps also insignificant – falsch gmbh is half dance, half music, and both at the same time at 100 percent. Dance artists Milagros Velázquez Nanni and Carley Marholin joined cellists Clara Baesecke and Clara Franz to form falsch gmbh in November 2024. Together, the four artists began to realize their shared artistic vision: working in close collaboration with both choreographic and compositional decisions. The group’s satirical title is inspired by the impossibility of "doing it right” in the (art) world - especially as female artists. They follow the idea of doing whatever they enjoy because to someone, it will always be “falsch” (false) anyway
