The exhibition deals with the dissolution of the boundaries of reality, inspired by the 18th century cabinet of curiosities, which functioned as collections of curiosities and knowledge. The Wunderkammer organized objects from a chaotic state into typologies and thus structured the view of the world. The Throne of the Grand Mogul by Johann Melchior Dinglinger, part of the Dresden Treasury, serves as a catalyst to build a bridge between this historical form of knowledge collection and our contemporary perception.
The work blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination. On the front, it shows an opulent installation, while the back depicts an imaginary orientalist scene in a crude manner. In an unintentional but telling way, it becomes clear how the painter explored the virtual and the real. This reflects the challenges of dealing with knowledge and perception in a time characterized by digital distortions, fake news and media manipulation.
The exhibition creates an interactive space that uses digital technologies to open a dialog between the past and the present. The exhibition invites visitors to question the dimensions of truth and perception and to discover new perspectives by moving through a space that connects the material and digital worlds.
