Ersatz Truths

Stephan Groß

28 June 2025 12:00–18:00
The exhibition “Ersatz Truths” (the term refers to something similar to Alternative Facts or Fake Facts) shows a series of mostly English-language typographics in the context of the festival theme. References to populist zealotry, ignorance and arbitrariness in dealing with the truth shimmer through the minimalist letter compositions. Stencil typography and breaks cause words to crumble, just as the themes addressed by such “Ersatz Truths” crumble in the mind. Through form and content, the series of works integrates itself into the antiquarian bookshop as a place of discourse, intellectual honesty and careful preservation and passing on of knowledge.
