Lost in Spaces
Canan Kinali
27 June 2025 19:00 – 29 June 2025 19:00
In her photographic work, Canan Kinali explores the perception of abandoned places in various cities, countries, and continents. She has been particularly fascinated by locations such as Lost Place near Berlin/Germany, Varosha in Cyprus, and certain sites in Istanbul. These “Lost Spaces” carry a unique atmosphere—a spiritual realm between sorrow, pain, love, hope, happiness, light, longing, and belonging.
Why do we feel deeply connected to certain places, even when we enter them for the first time? Have we experienced them in another life, or do they awaken an unconscious memory within us? Through her photography, Canan Kinali captures these invisible traces and makes them tangible. Her ability to perceive energies and reveal emotional connections blurs the boundaries between space, memory, and existence.
With her work, she invites viewers to engage with these special places and to explore their own connection to the past, transience, and the soul of these spaces.
