As part of 48H Neukölln, Mediterranea Berlin e.V. presents Re-search and Reflect: Multiple Faces of Reality in Migration, an interactive exhibition that questions dominant narratives on migration and displacement. Through a multidisciplinary approach, it invites visitors into a symbolic dialogue with their perceptions, sparking introspection and openness.
Mediterranea Berlin e.V. is a non-profit association carrying out humanitarian missions in the Mediterranean, Bosnia, and Ukraine, advocating for human rights and freedom of movement. This exhibition explores the deep and unpredictable bond between humanity and the sea—where hope and loss, fragility and survival, chance and control intertwine. The sea emerges as both a refuge and a threat, a space that defies certainty. Boats and human bodies, caught in its vastness, become shifting symbols of both protection and peril.
Featuring the works of Caterina De Donato, Giuseppe Minervini and Fabiana Sapia, the exhibition includes an interactive video installation, drawings and installations, and a fusion of drawings and sculptures—fragmented bodies forming an immersive experience. Together, these pieces create a space where movement, memory, and perception blend.
By contrasting media portrayals with lived realities, Re-search and Reflect challenges misconceptions about migration, particularly the harrowing journeys across the Sahara and Mediterranean. It encourages visitors to rethink the "facts" they encounter, expand their awareness, and recognize that the suffering of others could have been their own.
This interactive exhibition invites you to engage, reflect, and reimagine the multiple realities of migration.
