Can art be true? I can certainly perceive it, and at best, it expresses truth. Truth seems objective. Is that so?
Images work through perception, through the perception of lines, surfaces, shapes, compositions, and, not least, colors. This applies to representational painting as much as to abstraction. Art can express truth, and truth touches us, triggers emotion. Emotion is true, but my feeling may be different from yours. Or does truth always trigger a universal emotion? Very confusing.
