Due to the way it is made, one might think that painting as a medium lends itself more to delusion and fabrication than to enlightenment - after all, in its traditional form it pretends to be something that it is not: a window into another world, rather than a piece of fabric with a more or less complex layer of paint on it. Even the story of Zeuxis and Parrhasius alludes to this. Painting absorbs AI-generated images and the realities created by “alternative facts” as well as playing with authenticity, but at the same time it also brings a certain degree of realism through its craftsmanship. She is therefore perhaps particularly well suited to approaching our experience of truth and perception in a poetic way and to tracing the pain points in between.
The exhibition SWEET LITTLE LIES by the painters' network FRANK* and its invited artists is dedicated to the tension between truthfulness and the distortion of facts - alluding to Fleetwood Mac's song lyrics - using the means of an expanded understanding of painting. It is about sensory experience and AI, warning and camouflage colors, glitch and kitsch.

Biography
Joanna Buchowska / EMC Collard / Isabel Friedrich / Maike Häusling / Ekaterina Leo / Julia Rüther / Eun-Joo Shin/Eva Schwab
The FRANK* painters' network ( www.frankstern.de ) is exhibiting with four members and artist friends. The FRANK* painters Isabel Friedrich and E. M. C. Collard, who have dedicated themselves to magical realism and playing with reality in very different ways, have invited to the show. Again with Eun-Joo Shin, who achieves a delicacy in her figurative oil paintings that is usually found in watercolors, and now also with Maike Häusling and Ekaterina Leo from FRANK* and their Berlin friends Joanna Buchowska and Julia Rüther from Malerinnen Netzwerk Berlin-Leipzig, who all artistically explore the field of fake and fact with pure brushwork, through elaborate collages or installations, through the use of AI or in other ways.
