Our perception shapes our reality. But what happens when multiple perceptions meet?

In the project "What we see," two artists explore the tension between photography and painting – between documented reality and subjective interpretation.

Analog black-and-white portraits depict people from the personal environment as well as strangers in various locations and at different times. These are complemented by paintings that make the artist's own perspective on the photographs visible.

The boundaries between the two media are fluid: photography and painting merge, overlap, contradict each other – and perhaps form a new unity. Two perceptions are brought together to show that reality is diverse and that something new can be created from it.

Through artistic staging with overlays, reflections, and juxtapositions, visitors are invited to explore the diversity of reality. They can question perceptions, and discover how reality changes with each viewpoint.

"What we see" shows the diversity of realities – and how they connect.

Biography

Nicole Skraburski, Marie Bahati Kaiser, Francesca Belli

'What we see' is the result of a collaborative process among three women from Berlin, creatively daring to try something new.

Nicole brings emotions to the canvas with brush and paint. She has been painting in her small home studio for years and has since developed her own unique style.

Marie has rediscovered her inspiration in black-and-white photography and is currently experimenting with her analog camera to capture various moments.

Francesca is the conceptual thinker behind the art. With her intuition, she weaves thoughts and inspirations into a common thread that connects the works.

As a collective, they combine their individual forms of expression, draw from their strengths, and present their perceptions together for the first time.
