It does not really make sense to explain a joke, just as it does not make any sense to nail a meaning to an artwork. Art will tell and reaveal itself to us. We want to try this here.
There are works of art hanging outside and you can take possession of them. The possession of artworks is usually regulated by a market. Works of art seem to be available everywhere and at all times and that is precisely what makes them a bit irrelevant. It's different with a stolen painting. It disappears, vanishes. And thus reveals to us a glimpse of whatever is not here. And whatever is not here looks from the sidelines to whatever is here. Whatever is not here is a god.
Concept and selection of artists: Johannes Albers

Johannes Albers, born in 1966 in Emsland, lives and works as a visual artist in Berlin.
His works, which sometimes appear enigmatic, but are always convincing and accessible on an aesthetic level and also display great humor, contain a variety of references to art history as well as a highly critical examination of current developments of the art (market).
