Performative reconstruction of a resistant life.
The truth is: we didn't really know Eva. Her flat still smelled of cold smoke. There was a thick layer of dust on rows of books and piles of photos. The past hung in her many colourful clothes. All these reminders of a long life were to be thrown away the next day. We took a few things that nobody else wanted and closed the door behind us. The truth is: Eva Willig is dead. But now Eva walks with us through Neukölln. Shows us medicinal plants and places of resistance. Writes letters of complaint and song lyrics. Puts up posters and talks about her fight for a fairer world. Eva remains disruptive. Her story defies clear categorisation. Falls through the cracks. Threatens to disappear. Who will be remembered? Who is forgotten? The visibility of biographies is political. Eva's biography is political. The truth is: it's not just about Eva. It's about all of us. It's our shared narrative.
