The Manege Children and Youth Center is located in the heart of North Neukölln, at what is known as the Rütli corner on Weserstraße. This is a place where children and young people aged 6 to 22 come together to shape their everyday lives, be creative, and explore who they are.

The children and young people say it themselves: Manege is their second home.

A place to arrive, participate, be loud, reflect, express themselves, and stick together.

As part of 48 Hours Neukölln, we warmly invite you to get to know this special place. We want to show you who we are, what happens here, and why Manege means so much to us.

Look forward to:

the screening of a self-produced short film

music created by the young people in our own recording studio

photo, sound, and video installations

our exhibition “What You Don’t See”, in which children and young people share their experiences of racism and discrimination

live music, creative stands, and hands-on activities

a campfire in our small green oasis – the Manege garden

delicious food, drinks, and non-alcoholic cocktails

Come by, stay for a while, listen, ask questions, or simply sit with us.

We look forward to encounters, exchange, and shared moments.

You are warmly welcome –

Biography

Kinder und Jugendliche aus der Manege

The artists of this exhibition are the children and young people of Manege. Their works emerge from their everyday lives, their personal experiences, and the realities of growing up in North Neukölln. Through film, music, photography, sound, and visual art, they share their stories in their own voices. Many of the works engage with themes such as identity, belonging, discrimination, and positioning.

The young people describe Manege as their second home — a place where they feel safe to explore, express themselves honestly, and be seen. Here, people do not speak about them; here, they speak for themselves. Their artistic work is more than creative expression: it is a form of participation, visibility, and self-determination. Each piece is personal, political, and powerful.
