....a selection of works, somewhere between spatial reference and spatial illusion. These retrospectively selected works are part of a transformative process.
At the heart of O.Oefelein’s work are spaces and structures, layers and overlays. They navigate the tension between the real and the fictional, bringing these two planes into alignment in such a way that a new, distinct visual language emerges.
Focus: Painting, sculpture, film, installations, public art
A space can become a temporary installation; a painting can be expanded upon many years later through an additional layer, such as a translucent overpainting. Films often emerge in the wake of, for example, temporary installations, but can also be an integral part of them.

Biography
Oliver Oefelein
Oefelein studied fine arts at the Berlin University of the Arts (now UdK), where he was a master student of H.J. Diehl
Among others, he received the following grants:
A working grant from the Kunstfonds Bonn Foundation in connection with “Neustart Kultur”; a residency grant at the Saari Residence (Finland); a working grant from the Kone Foundation to carry out a public art project there; and the opportunity to realize “M-Art-Forschung” following a Berlin-wide open art competition
Oefelein exhibits throughout Germany and in other European countries and is represented by Galerie Ulrich Mueller in Cologne and Galeria Vanguardia in Bilbao. Selected exhibitions:
