Memories are essential for us. They make us who we are, they shape our identity, and we take them as firm, unshakable truths. But memories are treacherous. They change, they are formed anew every single time we remember. So what happens if the rug of certainty concerning our own past is pulled from underneath our feet?
In a staged reading we present excerpts from our three-character-play ‘Utherow or Don’t Believe Everything You Think’ in a casual café setting. After a longish time, the estranged sisters Lola and Josepha meet unexpectedly in the house they inherited from their parents. But the reunion quickly slides into a fight over who gets to define the family’s and their own respective biography. Old conflicts boil up again and different versions of memories are pitted against each other. Then, suddenly, Olivia shows up - an old friend of Josepha’s from school. And she has her very own agenda. On their trip into a common past, all three have to confront one question: How can I be sure that my memories are actually true?
‘Utherow’ is the debut play by Anne Lemke, a young East-German author, who developed it in cooperation with Shakespeare2Go. Read and acted by Rahel Schöppenthau, Lisa-Marie Pfadt and Ceylan Schumacher. Directed by Andreas Neu who also provided dramaturgic support.

Biography
Shakespeare2Go
Shakespeare2Go was founded in 2017 by Andreas Neu as a theatre company with professional training for actors. Neu studied directing at Ernst Busch University of Theatre Arts and has worked as a director, playwright, and acting teacher since. Between 2017 and 2020, the independent collective created 8 productions: 6 plays - including an adaptation of Macbeth, and Preparadise Sorry Now by Fassbinder -, a staged reading, and a discursive format with theatrical elements. In 2020, SH2GO became an open platform for productions to which the 3 actresses Rahel Schöppenthau (since 2018), Lisa-Marie Pfadt (since 2019) and Ceylan Schumacher (since 2023) are associated. In 2023, author Anne Lemke joined SH2GO. She studied Arab Studies and Slavonic Studies at FU Berlin, and is also a singer-songwriter.
