A series of ten audio recordings and ten large-scale portraits. The artist transforms her experiences of violence from 2021 to 2023 into poetic narratives. These explore the connection, identification, and inspiration between her and various women across time, age, and history—women who, despite temporal and historical differences, share similar experiences and concerns. Through her drawings, Renata symbolically invites different women, to emphasize the universality of the female experience. She uncovers nuances of violence against women often overlooked, given the severity of physical violence statistics in Germany and globally, still underreported.

Biography

Renata Faccenda

Renata Faccenda, a Brazilian artist of Italian descent, living and working in Schillerkiez since 2009, as a visual artist, graphic designer, DJ, singer, and composer. Her visual work has explored drawing over paper and wall since 2021. Renata expresses her more conceptual side through performances.
Renata developed her most impactful interactive performance still in Brazil, but titled "En Bragas," only in 2002 when she moved to Barcelona. The "En Bragas" project, interrupted in 2010 due to motherhood, resulted in 524 photos taken in seven different countries.
During the pandemic, Renata delved into the realm of drawing, and in this exhibition, she aims to bring together drawings and performances with the theme that has been a constant in her artistic work: women.
