This series of photographs shows installations made of aerated concrete from 2011.
By supplementing the photographs with a frame made of bark wood 2024
two experimental techniques combine.
Various traces can be found both in the installations and in the frames. Traces of the aerated concrete blocks have left empty spaces and can be assumed to be previous walls. The bark wood, which is only roughly freed from the outer bark, allows conclusions to be drawn about rough tools. This series creates a silence on various levels that is transmitted to the viewer in a haunting way and enables one to feel inside without destroying one's own livelihood.

Biography

Mirjam Dorsch

In my sculptural work I encounter various materials and techniques that accompany me in my work routine and connect, overlap or replace each other. Individual parts of art production and actors in the (art) world are analyzed and then playfully swapped or moved. Using sculptural means, I work on the elements of the art genres with equal weighting of their properties. My artistic work is characterized by poetic and melancholic expressions.
