Luca Vecoli's festival contribution features photographs that create a visual flow. Various formats and shooting techniques are mixed together. The composition of the image flow follows visual impulses and lines that extend beyond the boundaries of the image.
We live in a world of constant change. In this age of fleeting reality, photography demands to transcend the boundaries that were once assigned to it. Photography has always been a means of organizing the stream of images that shape our experience of the world. In a world where boundaries seem to be merging, photography must be interpreted according to new criteria.
Luca Vecoli's photographic work attempts to overcome the distinctions that have hitherto served to categorize it, such as black and white vs. color, rectangular vs. square formats, but also reportage vs. portrait or natural landscape vs. urban landscape, etc.
This leads to a redefinition of photography as a flow of images that goes beyond the individual shot or the preconceived interpretation that stems from times when experience was more limited. Today, experience is a continuum and shapes our existence in reality without the defined boundaries of the past.
Photographs and image sequences enter into dialogue, contradict or complement each other – both in terms of content and in terms of format and shooting technique. In this way, they open up new contexts and invite individual interpretation. Individual photographs and sequences complement each other to form a coherent experience that takes the viewer on a visual journey.
