The project reflects on contemporary cities as cultural islands and on the archipelago as a social system of relationships between inhabitants and artists.
Pedroletti has been working on the concept and idea of the island for over a decade, through travels and explorations of specific places, as well as imaginative metaphors for the social, political, and cultural aspects of territories. She presents an unpublished video work that reveals time through various filming technologies, alongside a selection of photographs from the "Study for an Archipelago" series. Familari presents a new video work developed from the experience of the interactive installation Relate – Talk with Me, which invited the audience to engage in a conversation with a customised voice bot represented by an avatar.
Archipel imagines cities in the form of archipelagos—fragmented yet interconnected spaces where artificial intelligence builds its own archipelago of human interactions, transforming how we perceive and experience intimacy. The dissolution of physical boundaries through AI challenges traditional notions of community, suggesting a new kind of urban geography shaped not by streets and buildings, but by data and interactions.
