Hörgewebe - Reaction to tought Times
Svenja Kalz und Sascha Vajnstajn
27 June 2025 19:00 – 29 June 2025 19:00
“Hörgewebe” is dedicated to the investigation of forms of reality based on the creation process of a textile fabric on a loom and the playback of sound recordings of political speeches.
The boundaries between real speeches by political actors and those generated by artificial intelligence become blurred. Acoustically and visually perceptible elements are closely related in terms of content and question clearly defined truths.
The elaborate, manual and analog process contrasts with the fast pace of today's digital image and information consumption.
First, a fabric is created, which later serves as an image carrier. In the further course, a portrait of Donald Trump - a key figure in the context of “fake news” - is painted onto the textile material.
By unraveling the fabric and reweaving the dyed thread, shifts are created that produce the image material in a different, distorted and yet real form.
The artistic action takes place on site and can be experienced live by visitors during the 48 hours. The resulting textile piece will be hung up.
