The sound installation brings together a collage of audio pieces that can be seen as a living archive of memories of ‘first times’. It tells of the first time riding a bike, the first kiss, the first time feeling homesick, the first time witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall, or the first time reflecting on the world.

The voices belong to people aged between five and eighty. Each person remembers a moment that was significant for them. As these personal stories are strung together, an unexpected connection emerges: some experiences are familiar to many, whilst others remain unique and perhaps yet to be lived. Thus, the boundaries between individual memories and collective moments become blurred. What is the past for one person may still be in the future for another.

The audio piece remains open-ended and in a state of constant change. It is continually expanded, rearranged and, with each new narrative, grows into an ever-evolving archive of memories of first times.
