Kindl-Areal

The site of the former Kindl Brewery in Berlin is located west of Karl-Marx-Straße, between Neckarstraße, Rollbergstraße, and Mainzer Straße. In May 2016, a new staircase connected the former industrial wasteland to the neighborhood at the intersection of Neckarstraße and Isarstraße, thereby making it a publicly accessible space.

Also in 2016, the KINDL – Center for Contemporary Art opened in parts of the former Kindl Brewery—the machine house, the brewhouse, the tower, and the boiler house—where international contemporary art is exhibited.

The goal of the development is to make the space available for social, creative, and ecological uses in the long term.
