Musical Soiree
Posaunenchor und Band der Paulus-Gemeinde Neukölln, Leitung: Rainer Köster
29 June 2025 17:00–18:15
Truth is often not so obvious. If it is not revealed as in religion, it must be precisely proven. In the Christian religion, this revelation is the reference to the message of salvation for humanity: We are redeemed through Jesus Christ. The central proclamation of this faith takes place in church services in the church building. Because our church is turning 60 this year, we want to put this church at the center of a church concert and proclaim this faith there with wind instrument music. On the one hand, works commissioned for previous anniversaries of objects in the church (music by the contemporary composer Michael Schütz for brass and band over the church windows and for brass over the altarpicture) will be performed, and on the other hand, works for hymns that have been and continue to be commissioned for anniversaries. This concert will therefore also feature premieres of works created for this year's anniversary.
Biography
Posaunenchor und Band der Paulus-Gemeinde Neukölln, Leitung: Rainer Köster
The brass ensemble and band are congregational groups of the Paulus Congregation Berlin-Neukölln of the SELK (German Christian Church). The members are members and friends of the congregation and are all laypeople. Their musical focus is on Christian worship. Both groups also participate in the congregation's musical projects. For several years, the brass ensemble has regularly performed its own concert at its home church as part of the "48 Hours Neukölln" cultural festival. Furthermore, for over a decade, it has regularly performed at the "Alt-Rixdorf Christmas Market" event on the weekend of the second Sunday of Advent on Richardplatz, performing Advent and Christmas carols on the main stage as part of the cultural program.
