In Hoffert's visual cosmos, found objects washed up in the flood of media images react to the matrix of possibilities offered by painting, drawing and photomontage. The collage principle that runs through her work allows her to play freely with divergent pictorial elements; taking possession of them leads to wayward excesses, opens up unknown associative spaces and bravely defends itself against visual heteronomy.
