groundless - the in|between

“Borders are not rigid lines but provisional markings that shift, overlap, and take on new forms.” Maps do not simply show reality; they design interpretations of the world. Between inside and outside, a space emerges where meanings stay suspended, and relations are constantly reconfigured. In this intermediate condition, boundaries appear not as endpoints but as sites where cultural, political, and bodily processes unfold.
Presented by the media arts collective Groundless the exhibition, the_in|between brings together installations, sound works, video, and interactive systems that reflect on these shifting states. The exhibition approaches the space between inside and outside as a field of negotiation: a middle ground where differences coexist, where perception, movement, and attention reshape how borders are sensed and inhabited.
With works by Özcan Ertek, Jung Hsu, Vinzenz Aubry, Stratos Bichakis, Robert Schnüll, Ivana Papić, Tristan Wheeler, and Gina Bolle, the exhibition unfolds as a shared spatial situation in which boundaries emerge through sound, material processes, technological mediation, and bodily experience which is always temporary, always in transition.
