IKR

CEM CAKO COMMEDESMARXISTS RAINER GANAHL  AL JARRY  PENG XIANGHENG  MAO YUQIU YANKA SMETANINA YU ZHIMING SARAH SCHULTZ

27 June 2025 19:00 – 29 June 2025 22:00
Daumenlutscher in Neukölln boldly devotes itself to red-hot political events, putting its remaining fingers in the fresh thumb wound.
The exhibition IKR (no kidding) examines the phenomenon of media fakes, political manipulation and global information noise, focusing on the most pressing issues of contemporary hybrid warfare. Fakes related to political elections, information siphoning in times of war and manipulation of public opinion become central themes that the artists address and realize in their works.
The exhibition's visual series exposes the nature of these manipulations, while the thematic program offers the viewer strategies for resisting them. The artists act as mediators, exposing lies and offering tools that allow the viewer to maintain a critical distance from the media noise. In an age where every screen is either a window to the world or a mirror room of illusion, art finds unique ways to engage with this reality.
One of the core ideas of the exhibition is to show that the ability to distinguish between truth and lies requires not only knowledge, but also emotional stability, which art can help to develop. Paintings, objects, digital installations and experimental formats create a multi-layered narrative in which truth and fiction are interwoven in a dynamic dialog.
IKR (no kidding) speaks to each viewer and encourages them to think about how we perceive information, how it influences our emotions and actions, and what can be done to preserve clarity of thought. The exhibition becomes a space for dialog about truth, its perception and the responsibility each of us has in this media labyrinth.
