The Neukölln District Heating Plant (FHW) is one of the district's most striking industrial sites. It was designed by Reinhold Kiehl, the then-city planning director of Rixdorf – now Neukölln. Kiehl significantly shaped the cityscape: among other things, he designed the Sonnenallee train station, the public swimming pool, the town hall, and 14 schools in the district. On a site barely larger than that of the Neukölln town hall, one experiences industrial history and architectural artistry in one. As part of the 48 Stunden Neukölln Art Festival, the FHW becomes the stage for a photo exhibition. The industrial backdrop creates a fascinating contrast to the exhibited works. Visitors experience art in an unusual setting – far removed from traditional gallery spaces and in the heart of Neukölln
