Pina Berlin - The End of the Princess - An intervention Concert

Pina Berlin

29 June 2025 17:00–19:00
Pina's music is lined with elements of folk rock, world music, 90s pop and jazz. But at 48h Neukölln Pina commits an improvisational intervention in her songs and deconstructs ans destroys them with her looper, ukulele and saxophone and dance. The end of the rock princess. A soundtrack for all the doors of your perception.

The fact is that Pina Berlin mixes everything, it's the question mark in her music. The fact is that Pina was in the wrong film in her old job, got a thousand ideas for song arrangements at work and after 12 years in architecture ended up in burn-out, finally found her way to music. Quitting, never looking back. A success story that she finally recorded and released her album? That she finally studies jazz vocal and music&movement? Or a fail for not managing the work-life balance and only making music as a hobby as planned? All perceptions. The fact is that her chronic illness, fibromyalgia, has finally gone since she was made redundant. She was born and raised in Turkey as Pinar Tatlikazan, and her dream of making music in Berlin became her stage name when she was still leading a double life. Her songs travel through cultural and professional identities, inspirations and struggles against societal expectations. Root? For Pina, it's Chet Baker, Norah Jones, Tarkan, Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Shakira. The external perception when she moved to Germany was different. Does she want to represent something? No. She has tried enough to explain the diversity and contrasts of her origin. Now she just does it with her music. Feel the chaos instead of understanding with ‘facts’ as far as you have learnt from the news.

To break out of her frame, Pina loves interaction, not just singing or clapping together: In Intermezzo, she takes anonymously written down feelings from the listeners and lives them out for you through an instant composition. Can you face your feelings?

Biography

Pina Berlin

What if Norah Jones and Led Zeppelin collaborated in Istanbul in the 90s? Berlin-based singer-songwriter Pina Berlin creates a unique blend of folk-rock that interweaves Anatolian, Latin American and African rhythms with pop and jazz elements. Her music explores themes of human connection and self-discovery through self-reflection and uplifting messages. With her debut album, which she co-produced, Pina bridges different cultural backgrounds and brings empathy, hope and positivity to an often individualistic and hectic world. Her live shows - featuring Berlin's talented jazz and rock musicians, fiery improvisation and dance elements - bring her music to life.
