Stories, loops, focus, time.

This project is centered around string figures - an ancient game and meditative tool which arose independently in indigenous communities around the world. In traditional string games, players use a looped string to make figures which are linked to stories.

This work will take place as evening turns to night, accompanied by a simple sound and light installation consisting of a super 8 projector - not showing a film but an empty reel - lighting the space and acting as a sound element with its repetitive film-advance clicking sound. I will provide string and diagrams for a variety of figures that can be enacted alone or with others, and that can act as a starting point for individual creations.

We will fill the screen with shadows, projecting our own experiments and imperfect stories. As the day fades into night, our stories will be revealed through the projection.

Everyone is welcome, drop in or stay as long as you like.
