The insulation wool between our city apartments – in the walls, floors and ceilings – also ensures urban silence. But what is caught in the yellow wool? Voices of the residents, noises from the apartments, music, screams, moans, curses, exorcisms, murder plans, politics and noise.
On renovation construction sites in Berlin, I collect this insulating wool, which has often absorbed decades of noise, bring it back into existence, into being listened to, played, come to life, “snap” Polaroids of it and create a haunted "residents" sculpture.
