Our studios are still in danger!

A clean sweep of the art scene? That’s exactly what’s at stake if the Berlin Senate scraps the studio program! Our building at Schönstedtstraße 13 isn’t just a workplace for 32 artists—it’s a cultural anchor in the neighborhood and part of a vibrant art scene that makes Berlin attractive worldwide.

Without funding, starting January 1, 2027, we’ll be kicked out. A comparable, affordable space? A pipe dream!

Berlin will thus lose not only studios, but a piece of its cultural identity. And all for a small cost—compared to what art and culture bring to the city economically and socially.

We say: Save the studio program! For the artists. For Berlin. For all of us.

Currently, 32 visual artists are working in the spaces of the Schön13 studio complex. All disciplines and genres are represented: painting, sculpture, media art, performance art, installation, drawing, and multimedia.
We need our studio spaces as permanent workspaces, as we produce art and develop exhibitions here on a daily basis. Many artists also open their studios to visitors or offer art education programs.
