Desire for Silence - Inclination towards Noise?

At the beginning of the year, we celebrated our 10th anniversary: 10 years of change within the collective, 10 years of neighborhoodly exchange, 10 years of gentrification, and 10 years of existence between silence and noise.

During the festival days, we aim to take the stage as a meeting point where people from the neighborhood (and beyond) can gather. As a collectively run pub and second home for many, the question of silence is always present: For many, it's a place and a means to escape urban hustle and find a moment of (un)expected peace, to rediscover a sense of community and to evade the pressures of everyday life.

We're planning an interactive exhibition where we want to share visions and perspectives for peaceful and noisy coexistence in urban spaces.

Together, with visitors and especially people from the neighborhood, we want to explore the meaning of silence in the context of Neukölln's nightlife and our neighborhood, sharing needs, experiences, and utopias.

What challenges do we need to confront (with neighbors, politics), and what value do we bring? How can we meet different needs for silence and noise in tight spaces? What kinds of silence can we offer?
