Neukölln has one of the highest proportions of foreigners and people with a migrant background among the 12 districts of Berlin. 329,000 people from 150 nations live next door to each other. The photographic series captures the doorbells of buildings in Neukölln. More than just functional objects, doorbells are the silent witnesses to the district's rich tapestry of migration, integration, and the housing crisis. How does the address system based on last names impact the sense of identity and community in the city? The project invites viewers to imagine the lives and stories behind the names on the doorbells and to reflect on their own experiences of ringing the doorbell of a stranger or a friend.
