RED - ROT

RED - ROT is a physical live performance by Ilana Palmgren, sound artist Joni Salmela, and visual and lighting designer Jaakko Sirainen with working group.

The performance explores dissociation as a shifting state of perception and a possible way of existing. Movement, electronic sound and visual elements unfold through changing states of body and perception.

RED - ROT asks:
What is it to be seen and to be safe?
Could I be like this, or like this?
What if we approached constant shifts, leaks and transformations with curiosity?

Instead of disappearance, RED - ROT breaks dissociation into movement, sound and words - and goes through.

The performance invites the audience into a shared sensorial experience where perception becomes synaesthetic.

“Why is red considered an erotic colour?
I guess it’s erotic to be alive, right?
You either rot - or burn and rot.”
