4 July 2026 12:00–19:00
ring/rand explores perceived and uncharted boundaries within the city on a journey along Berlin's Ringbahn. The two-channel video installation shows opposite train windows as the train circles endlessly through the city: a frame that presents the city not as a unified whole, but as a succession of contrasts and traces of everyday life.

The two screens create a spatial tension between what is allowed to remain in the city and what gets pushed outward: business centres and gentrified neighbourhoods on one side, displaced communities, clubs and nature on the other. Drawing on Lefebvre's "Production of Space", the Ringbahn becomes a dividing line that makes centrifugal forces visible; money and power pulling inward, people being pushed out.

The filmed cityscape is processed through generative digital media, using visual ambiguity to challenge the idea of a fixed urban narrative. ring/rand invites viewers to consider the city as a constantly shifting system and to ask where its boundaries lie and how they might be reimagined.
