Scream of Silence

The photos were taken in Singapore with my little sister. I immediately noticed the extreme surveillance state there, with cameras on every corner and more rules than rights. Despite the miles of traffic jams and crowds of people, there is an oppressive silence in the city, a silence of opinions and freedom. We had to overcome this constricting feeling by making ourselves unrecognizable to the cameras. With the help of certain face paint (consisting of different shapes and dots, we made certain regions of our faces unrecognizable, which are necessary for identification) we regained a piece of freedom and were able to shout ourselves out of this silence for a short time.
