Scruffy Connections is the artistic project of Sünje Burmester.
On view are paintings created with mixed media that explore the artist’s impressions and experiences through loud, vibrant colors, translating them into a visual, tangible form.
If you’re not just looking to be passively entertained, you’re invited to view the works, your own life, or even your woodchip wallpaper through the questions S. asks herself while creating:
What shapes your perception? How much agency do you really have in it? Or is it all ultimately the product of socialization and DNA, unfolding in space and time, exposed to a chaotic tangle of influences?
The works do not offer answers, but open up space for connection and discussion, with yourself and with others.

Biography
Sünje Burmester
Sünje Burmester, born and raised in a small town in northern Germany, lives and works in Berlin. From an early age, she has engaged in various artistic practices, focusing on mixed-media drawing and painting, as well as dance. Since 2020, she has deepened her connection to painting and has been exhibiting her work in smaller, independent settings.
