As part of 48HNK, two series of works by artist Florian Sorgo will be on display.
In the work “Sleep is … characterized by … surroundings [not rotting],” the sleeping place is explored sculpturally. A series of sleeping places that Sorgo is building over the course of the year in the extended surroundings of his studio in Rottenmann (Styria, Austria) leads to another sleeping place in the main room of the VORFLUTER. There, through a performative practice of working and sleeping over several days, another sculpture is added, which occupies the space on site and is in turn occupied by it.
Since 2019, the series “Found Compositions” has artistically captured found – and thus unaltered – situations through spontaneous, associative photo-text combinations. Using this method, a series of 240 works was created between 2019 and 2020. Another series is currently in progress and will be completed by 2027. In addition to places like Buenos Aires, Belgrade, Vienna, and Graz, Berlin – with a focus on Neukölln – is also an important point of reference for this project.
