Urban Still Life

To find a place of stillness inside the urban space seems like an impossible task. The city feels like the place to be, but what’s supposed to happen, has somehow already passed. Searching for a quiet moment, we seek the remaining nature, wander through parks and gardenscapes, pay the cemeteries and churches a visit, and stroll through the night. The mist lifts and the morning dawn hovers over the contours of the constructed world. What is it with all the construction debris? Each of the city’s sites- new and old- equally draw on the future and the past. One utopian place buries the next. We stand still in this continuum, capture the moment. These situations become the city’s still life, our living space turns into passable snapshots of silent privacy.
