Bars, clubs, affordable housing and subcultural spaces are increasingly disappearing from Neukölln. While glass office complexes are being built behind the Sonnenallee S-Bahn station, investors on Hermannstraße are busy fighting against shared housing. The multimedia exhibition „Silent Shadows“ deals with the disappearance of social spaces in the neighborhood and takes a stand against the accompanying loss of identity.
We take a closer look at those who have disappeared with the abolition of our spaces - talking to barkeepers, regulars, tenants and politicians in interviews. We follow the biographies of the places that have disappeared and create protest art together with you!
In their entirety, the exhibits are intended to directly meet the perception of the visitors. Through our art, we want to create a space to reconnect again and discuss about the disappearance of our social and culture inheritances. How do we imagine our kiez? What are the consequences for the kiez if all these places are no longer there? What happens to the people who disappear into the urban silence?

Biography
Künstlerkollektiv "Guter Pfusch" u.a. Carl Exner, Niels Blazyczek und Maximilian Bohne
"Guter Pfusch" is a student artist collective that has been active in Neukölln since 2020. Under the leadership of Carl Exner, Niels Blazyczek and Maximilian Bohne, a wide range of interests come together to create a wide variety of works. These range from furniture making, painting, photography and videography to textiles and much more. The studio is a small shared flat in the middle of a high-rise housing estate near Sonnenallee. Welding and flexing on the balcony while the living room still smells of paint and the hallway is covered in sawdust is what "Guter Pfusch" stands for.
