In a world where every shimmer has a shadow, "The Glitter Was a Lie" is an entertaining but poetic dance performance, building up the energy in the space.
The piece is exploring the tension between deception and desire, chaos and connection. 2 Dancers move like spirits dancing addressing the theme of the ambivalence of life, like shimmers and shadows. They navigate an emotional terrain where moments of joy clash with the weight of truth.
As the piece builds, the dancers begin sharing, stealing and building up energy through movement. The piece is a continuous exchange of groove and initiation, supported by the music, where every gesture costs and gives something back. They are holding on to the groove, driven to never lose the pulse and the life energy it holds.
There is a curiosity and necessity in their drive, wanting and needing to sweat through the movements to find the truth behind the shimmer but preserving the life force nevertheless. They start searching for the sync, seeking something deeper than shine: a shared rhythm, a common breath.
"The Glitter Was a Lie" is a meditation on temptation, survival, and the ecstatic beauty of connection forged like in the darkness of a club or in the shimmers of a party. It pulses with pleasure and energy, pushing towards the truth hidden beneath the surface, to end in surrender, freedom and empowerment.

Alessia D'Isanto & Sophie Prins
Sophie Prins (Amsterdam/Berlin) is an interdisciplinary artist working across dance, music, and paint/design.
As a dance-maker, choreographer, and musician, she creates vulnerable yet confrontational performances that blur artistic boundaries. Her work focuses on the interplay between voice, music, and movement.
Alessia D’Isanto is a professional dancer and teacher based in Berlin. Her distinctive movement quality is grounded in a quest for authenticity through dance, aimed at transcending the harsh limits of language that shape reality.By fusing urban styles, contemporary dance, and traditional styles, her dance expression developed a strong foundation and maturity.
