A special campaign to bring orphaned parents out of the taboo zone,
out of the silence back into society.
And suddenly the world stands still.........
Not every pregnancy ends with a living child on its hands. The child of an invisible mum dies during (early) pregnancy. For outsiders, these mums of all people are often not recognized as such in their suffering. Many remain lonely and silent in their great pain. Even among invisible mums, the same fate too often remains unseen.
A woman is a mum as soon as she holds a positive pregnancy test in her hand. Probably every 3rd-6th woman suffers a miscarriage. There are an incredible number of us. Miscarriages and stillbirths must not be a taboo subject. Let's finally stop being quiet. Let's finally start talking about it and show ourselves!
At 48 Stunden Neukölln, we want to give visitors an insight into the world of invisible mums and show photos that were taken during our campaign days. And, of course, we want to make the mums visible and break the urban silence.

Biography

Sternenkinder Bodensee e.V., Claudia Drechsler & Julia Schmidt

Sternenkinder Bodensee e.V. is a 2022 non-profit organisation.
Becoming parents of a star child is unexpected and unprepared.
We accompany families of children who have died during pregnancy, birth or the first years of life on the long journey of grief.

Claudia Drechsler is a documentary family photographer with a gift for portraying people in their everyday lives in an unadulterated way. Her photographic focus is also on taboo subjects such as death, mourning and parting and a realistic portrayal of birth and the puerperium.

Julia Schmidt is a family photographer and accompanied our campaign in Immenstaad on Lake Constance and made the invisible mums visible with the help of portraits.
