When I broke my foot and couldn't walk, I came to the following insight:
If you sit on a park bench long enough, then - do you become a park bench?
No, then you gain a new perspective.
The site-specific performance is about the time we spend in one place and how lingering influences our perception of the world around us.
A woman sits on a park bench. People come and go. Ordinary scenes and clichés play out around her. What happens if we stay there longer than usual? The park bench becomes a space of possibility beyond its purpose and transforms into a stage. As the woman moves, the park bench offers to connect with its enduring perspective and to perceive how the light, sound, atmosphere and events around it change. Perhaps a state is created that is somewhat reminiscent of eternity?

Biography
Sophia M. Estel
Sophia M. Estel lives in Neukölln and has been working as a freelance performer, dramaturge and choreographer since completing her training in contemporary dance, improvisation and instant composition. In her artistic practice, she pursues a multidisciplinary and integrative approach in which the body with its transformative power is at the center. The body becomes an instrument for placing oneself in ever new individual, collective or transpersonal relationships with the world. For her, perceiving what is is the key to self-empowerment and change. As a trainee in integrative dance therapy (DGT e.V.), Sophia also uses movement as a healing medium in her therapeutic work with people with and without disabilities.
