"WHAT FORM SHOULD FUTURE TAKE" is the title of the video about Novosibirsk, the capital of Siberia, and is also the leitmotif for the five expansive and walk-in video-sound installations, which show the megacities of Cairo, London, Paris and the cities of Berlin and Novosibirsk over an area of 2,000 square metres. You can quickly bridge a distance of 5,000 kilometres on one floor, so to speak.

Nothing documents the tumultuous, disruptive state of the present more accurately than modern megacities. They are growing at a feverish pace, both horizontally and vertically, and constantly develop new political and social explosive power. They often collide with their past and oscillate between change and stability. They are agitation and vibration, dissonance and shattered totality at the same time. The fall into chaos is always a real possibility.

The city and its periphery are a permanent laboratory and montage space, they remain provisional, but also places to test utopias, new identities and freedoms. The city functions as a multi-sensory event, made up of spaces, rhythms, scraps of memory and a specific sound that defines its character and energy, which also underlies the acoustic background, such as the omnipresent honking of car horns in Cairo or the typically British announcements in the London Underground.

Each of the installations deconstructs the projection surfaces in a different way. The projected façades and architectural fragments thus become 3-dimensional video sculptures. In the works, places of power meet social housing, starchitecture meets new realism and urban wasteland meets radical poetry. Architecture here becomes dynamic, fluid, permeable - an often abstract stream of image and sound. The city becomes an event, non-linear and simultaneous, a gigantic collage into which visitors can move directly. The future remains an experiment, a large construction site and an open question.
