For the 2026 festival, we are reinterpreting opera with improvised music and performance, discovering that everything is always both inside and outside. The outside flows through us and the inside becomes visible on the outside. The opera explores the interactions between inner attitudes, filters of perception, and external reality. Decisions, relationships, and social dynamics appear as resonance chambers in which identity is formed and dissolved again.

The two performers (Dina Hellwig & Philipp Caspari) tell stories of connection and doubt, of identity and dissolution—and of a search: for the self and for the other.

The Fincan ensemble consists of masters of free improvisation—artists who combine their instruments and voices to offer a glimpse into the unknown. Their music unfolds in real time. Improvised stories and thoughts become a collage of emotions and impulses. The artists move between free interpretation of the classical canon, jazz and contemporary music, performance, body art, and visual projection. Tradition meets revolution, order meets chaos – everything is drawn from the moment.
